Date: 12 March 2020

Time: 10:30 – 16:00 (CET)

Venue: Bristish Embassy Athens, 2 Loukianou Street, Kolonaki, 106 75, Athens, Greece

Workshop

The workshop covers in-depth Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS) and Inverse Gas Chromatography (iGC) techniques and its applications and will focus on characterising materials related to pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical and contract labs.

Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS) – DVS system allows for real-time monitoring and controlling of vapor and gas concentration for sorption measurements in solid state materials. The sorption mechanism may be investigated from sorption/desorption isotherms, hysteresis effects, and sorption kinetics. The combination of a video microscope and vibrational spectroscopic techniques with DVS would allow for increased understanding of vapor-induced structural changes of solid materials.

Inverse Gas Chromatography – Surface Energy Analyzer (iGC-SEA) – This system is specially designed to determine the surface energy heterogeneity but nevertheless suitable for measuring different surface and bulk properties of solid materials including acid-base properties, heat of sorption, glass transition temperature, solubility parameters.

Topics:
DVS Technique and Applications
– Brief introduction of DVS Product Family – models, principle, instrumentation, hardware and software upgrades
– Overview of applications: water vapor & organic vapor

iGC-SEA Technique and Applications
– Brief introduction of iGC-SEA – instrumentation and principle
– Overview of applications: water vapor & organic vapor
