Surface Measurement Systems welcome new Head of R&D and UK Sales Manager
Timothy Collins as Head of Research and Development
Timothy Collins is now the Head of Research and Development of Surface Measurement Systems. He will oversee the company’s R&D department focusing on new product development and continued development of existing products. He is responsible in pulling together the whole team of experts, from product specialists, mechanical, electronic and software engineers to form a centre of excellence within the company.
“I had an opportunity to take what is a good team and make it really, really good; to build a stronger team and to focus on the development of delivering efficiency, reducing waste and getting new products and software out” he said.
He joins Surface Measurement Systems in October from Applied Photophysics Ltd in Leatherhead, UK. For more than 7 years, he was in charge of developing new products and software for scientific instruments used in academia and bio-pharma. His work involved mechanical, optical and electrical design, application software and scientific applications development.
“I am very keen and passionate on R&D excellence and would like to extend and enhance best practice in the company. Surface Measurement Systems has a clear lead in sorption science; we have the best scientists in the world for these techniques (the DVS and iGC-SEA) and I would like to keep it this way and even increase our leadership in technology and science. Tim has a D.Phil. in Chemical Physics from University of Sussex, and considerable project management experience with PRINCE2® and AgilePM™ practitioner certification. He is also a member of American Chemical Society.
Nektaria Servi, new UK Sales Manager
Nekatria Servi is the new UK Sales Manager and will be responsible for a tighter focus on delivering solutions to the customers and strengthening the company’s relationships within the UK market.
“The foremost thing that I will do is build relationship with our existing customers around the UK and develop business with them. Customer relationship is still the key aspect in sales and with the great technology and great science that the company has; we are looking forward, as a team, to grow bigger.” Nektaria said.
Nektaria has wide knowledge in business development and market analysis. She has worked in the FTIR, Raman, Benchtop NMR and Near Infrared business for many years and was Instruments Product Manager in BioPharma Technology Ltd and Business Development Consultant at Bruker before joining Surface Measurement Systems.
