Physical Chemistry, University of Melbourne in 1980, MSc.(Polymer Science) Lehigh University in 1983 and PhD Chemical Engineering Department, Imperial College London His current research interests focus on the characterisation of particulate materials and material surfaces. Current projects include Characterisation of Multi-Component Vapour-Solid Adsorption Phenomena, Surface Energy Characterisation of Complex Organic Powders, Micromechanics of Agglomerates, Physicochemical Properties of Hydrates and Polymorphic Particulate Materials Diffusion/Permeability of Small Molecules in Glassy Materials using Inverse Gas Chromatography, Freeze Drying, Powder Adhesion and Milling, Protein Crystallisation.
Dr. Dan Burnett
Dan Burnett is the Director of Science Strategy for Surface Measurement Systems, Ltd. located at SMS’s North American headquarters in Allentown, PA. He received his bachelor’s degree in Professional Chemistry from Eastern Michigan University in 1997. He received his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2001. Since joining SMS in 2001, he has continued his interests in sorption science and surface chemistry on a range of materials including: pharmaceutical powders, natural and man-made fibers, polymers, films, and food/flavor systems. Dr. Burnett has authored or co-authored over 25 papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous national and international conferences.
Dr. Vladimir Martis
Vladimir Martis is the DVS product manager for Surface Measurement Systems, Ltd located at SMS worldwide headquarters in London, UK. He received his Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from Trencin University of Alexander Dubcek in 2004. He received his engineering doctorate degree (EngD) in Molecular Modeling and Materials Simulation from the Chemistry department at University College London in 2012. Since joining SMS in 2013, he has continued working in the development of advanced in-situ experimental surface science techniques using molecules as a probes instead of X-rays for studying catalysts, zeolites, MOFs, polymers, films, carbon, composites and glasses under real industrial conditions. Dr. Martis has authored and co-authored 8 publications in peer-reviewed journals and presented at several international conferences.
