DVS and iGC SEA Sorption Techniques – the Latest Applications

Strathclyde

Surface Measurement Systems in partnership with University of Strathclyde – CMAC, invites you to the workshop that will cover Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS) and iGC techniques.

Individual whose works are in line with studying materials such as powder, composite, polymers, fibers and pharmaceutical materials will gain better understanding on the uses and benefits of DVS, including the newest DVS instrumentations and iGC-SEA. An instrument demonstrations will also take place at the end of all presentations. Learn about:

  • Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS) and Inverse Gas Chromatography-Surface Energy Analyzer (iGC-SEA) – advanced sorption techniques for physico-chemical characterization of complex solids
  • Capability of the instruments and an overview of applications in various industries
  • Some examples and case studies such as moisture sorption properties of materials relating to their drying and shelf life stability; determination of amorphous contents and vapour-induced phase changes (glass transition temperature and critical relative humidity); diffusion and permeability studies; surface energy, surface heterogeneity mapping, and adhesion/cohesion
  • Overview of benefits when coupled with different microscopic and spectroscopic techniques (Raman/IR/video camera)
