Advances in Dynamic Vapor Sorption Methods & Surface Energy Characterisation for Innovative Technology Materials

The workshop will cover in-depth Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS) and Inverse Gas Chromatography (iGC) techniques, from theory to common applications in material characterization in fields of Nanomaterials, Metallic Organic Frameworks, Graphene, Pharmaceutical Materials, Biofuels Research, Biocatalysis, Biomass, Adsorption Zeolite & Heat Pump.

The workshop aimed for industry professionals and researchers. Both DVS and IGC are widely used techniques to characterize materials across different stages of product formulation, manufacturing and quality control. Attendees will gain better understanding on the uses and benefits of DVS and iGC and the workshop will tackle the most advanced applications.

Morning session

1030 – 1100: Introduction to Sorption Science (Dr Daryl Williams, Imperial College London)

1100 – 1130: Particle engineering in pharmaceutical solids processing: surface energy considerations (Dr Daryl Williams)

1130 – 1145: Morning break

1145 – 1230: Water adsorption and co-adsorption of H2O/CO2 on MOFs and zeolites (Dr Vladimir Martis, Surface Measurement Systems)

1230 – 1315: Lunch

Afternoon session

1315 – 1345: Analysing adsorbents for protection against toxic vapours (Mr Martin Smith, DSTL)

1345 – 1415: Moisture stability and hysteresis in perovskite solar cells (Dr Piers Barnes, Imperial College London)

1415 – 1430: Afternoon break

1430 – 1530: Open discussions (Q&A), DVS and iGC instrument demo, conclusion
